Continuing the theme
There’s a vulnerability to playing in the studio. And it’s something that I find really difficult. You’ve been head-down for ages, sawing away in my case, doing take after take, convincing yourself it sounds fine. And then suddenly you have to actually listen back to it. No instrument in hand. No excuses. Just you and the pre edited recorded truth.
It’s all there - every mistake is captured. And if you are a delicate little flower like me - you hear every slightly flat note, every bow wobble, every moment where your concentration wandered off. But… Sometimes it sounds bloody brilliant..! And that my friends is the drug!
Anyway. Here’s me listening back to a stack of five cello parts for the first time. I think you can tell what I think…
